The Roots of Love and Happiness
Unless we carefully cherish the fountain of love and happiness within us, these extremely delicate feelings will wither. As citizens of the earth, we need to reflect on to how we spend our days on earth and to constantly replenish that inner fountain with love and happiness. Since ancient times, life's ultimate goals have been considered as love - in the Greek sense of mutual affection or eros agape - and happiness - in the sense of psychic or spiritual contentment. Life's fundamental questions have always centred on how we should lead our lives so as to enable peaceful co-existence and how to engender happiness. And while unexpected events may well happen in the course of our individual lives, we should commit ourselves to sharing this fountain of love and happiness, by abandoning wanton desires and giving the best of ourselves, ever aware of how we spend our energy. Because we aspire towards happiness, let us pray that mankind's most important goals permeate the earth. Let us banish borders between nations and individuals by spreading happiness so that people everywhere become slaves to love. Unless we encourage ourselves to drink from this well, our planet faces a bleak future. Let us not forget, we all share this one planet...
